2008 Weekend Fungi Festival

Saturday September 27 & Sunday September 28, 2008

Over the period of this weekend, in Sicamous BC we will offer an assortment of activities and events that will be based around wild mushrooms. We will also offer a wide range of entertainment that will keep you busy all weekend. We will be offering a variety of different mushroom hunting tours that will allow you to capture the feeling of this event. This weekend event will be mainly be held at the the red barn in Sicamous, BC.

Lectures and Workshops

Over the course of the weekend we will have renowned mushroom experts Jim Jones and Paul Kroeger, providing educational lectures, interactive workshops and slide shows. This will show you “All you want to know about Wild Mushrooms”. This portion of the festival will be held on Friday and Saturday night @ 8 pm at the Red Barn Arts Center.

Beer Gardens & Wine Tasting

Beer GardensJust Relax and have a drink at the the Fungi Festivals Beer Gardens.
Beer Gardens Hours:

11am-10pm Saturday
11am-6pm Sunday

Imagine a beer in your hand, the sight of the Spectacular Shuswap and the sounds of live music in the background.



Local Gourmet Dinners

YumMushrooms, Mushrooms, Mushrooms. What would a Mushroom Festival be without wild mushrooms cooking and letting off that enticing aroma? In addition to the mushroom treats cooked from the day's finds during the week, there will be specialty cooks that will prepare an assortment of mushroom-themed dishes over the weekend at the following:

Live Entertainment - Free Stage

StageA free stage for musicians, and a great opportunity to perform for a live audience.

Car Show

Car ShowWe have an awesome assortment of Hot Rods from local owners, Sun Valley Cruisers, & Cam Jammers. The Hot Rod Show will be held right in the park during the festivities & we will be awarding peoples choice awards for both days. To add to the festival there will also be prizes awarded to the most creative mushroom theme.

Car Show runs from 10am to 4pm Saturday & Sunday

Vendor TentThere will be several unique vendors in attendance at this years fungi Festival. From tasty treats to fashionable wares and of course, mushroom-themed booths.

 


Introduction to our Mushrooms Tours

Our Mushroom Tours offer a unique outdoor experience focused on hunting, identifying, and harvesting a world wide delicacy.
This “treasure hunting” trade is a valued skill, whether it’s for commercial picking and earning top dollar for your mushrooms, or for the gourmet cook looking to prepare more exotic meals.
Ours tours are very personalized with small groups per interpreter.

Phoebe Ann Mushroom Tours

10am – 5pm.
Max 36 people

 

You will enjoy a full day hunting for wild mushrooms around the Beautiful Shuswap Lake with a mushroom interpreter. You will identify and pick all sorts of amazing wild mushrooms in the area. As well, a BBQ lunch will be served on the Phoebe Ann (fully licensed)

Cost $95 per person

Includes: The Phoebe Ann Tour, Interpreter and BBQ lunch.

Walking Mushroom Tours

12pm – 3pm

Sat. & Sun.

 

You will meet at the Fungi Festival Headquarters.
From there you will go for a safe, fun and informative tour with your Wild Mushroom Interpreter to identify, hunt and collect Wild Mushrooms.
We follow sustainable mushroom hunting ethics.

 

Costs: $25 per person (Bring your own lunch)

Own Transportation Tours

10am – 5pm

Sat. & Sun.

 

You will meet at the Fungi Festival Headquarters.
From there you will drive to a few local mushroom hotspots with your Wild Mushroom Interpreter to identify, hunt and collect Wild Mushrooms.
We follow sustainable mushroom hunting ethics.

Costs: $45 per person (Lunch Included)
