The Fungi Festivals Grand Tour

September 21 - September 28, 2008

The Fungi Festivals Grand Mushroom Tour will be a will be an exciting week of touring to several different locations to hunt, identify and pick Wild Mushrooms. These locations will be rich in beauty and also in mushrooms. This trip will include a two day stop at KOA Campground in Revelstoke BC, a three day stop at Nakusp Hot Springs in Nakusp BC and a two day stop at Holiday Homestead in Sicamous BC. Bring your own RV, Tent or stay in one of the cabins at the at the campgrounds. Every day we will provide an interpreter to help you identify, hunt and collect Wild Mushrooms. We will also serve you a meal that is Wild Mushroom related.

Cost : $45 per day includes interpreter, wild mushroom meal, free lecture, slide show, and a campfire at night.
Your camping fee and cabin rental will be in addition to the above fee.

Our Itinerary is as follows:


Sunday September 21 to Tuesday September 23, 2008

Sunday: The group will meet in Revelstoke at the KOA. During sunday evening there will be a presentation and slide show at KOA.Guided Mushroom foray, slide show and wild mushroom tasting

Monday & Tuesday:

Tours: Day-long treasure hunting workshop in local woodland settings.  Learn about whatever mushrooms are popping up out there - The Good, the Bad and the Yuckky. Gain confidence in knowing edible wild mushrooms with a knowledgeable guide. European and Asian and regional visitors alike, will be impressed with the variety and abundance of mushrooms found in our forests. Bring mushrooms growing in your yard or along the road to be identified. Delicious edibles are everywhere!

Entertainment: In the evening there will be a potluck dinner, featuring, you guessed it wild mushrooms. Also to follow in the evening is a slide show, presented by one of our very knowledgeable host, the slide show will be on wild mushroom of the area.

Wensday September 24 to Thursday September 25, 2008

Wednesday: Travel from KOA Revelstoke to Nakusp Hot Springs. Approx travel time is 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours. Will stop along the way to hunt for wild mushrooms. Evening entertainment will include a potluck dinner, please bing your local wine and cheese to compliment the mushrooms. Slide show to follow.

Thursday: Guided Mushroom Tours will commence at 10AM, you have the choice of either below tour option. Potluck dinner and a slide show presentation to follow.

Tour Option 1: Natural Hot springs Tour
This is a all natural tour and that includes you! On this option you will hunt and collect wild mushrooms on the way to and from a all natural hot spring. You will stop at the springs for a relaxation period to enjoy nature. Lunch included
Please note that you must be able to travel steep hills for this option.

Tour Option 2: Local Mushroom Tour
For this tour option you will hunt and collect wild mushroom in the local region. You will then have lunch at a local restaurant that specializes in mushroom cuisine, called "The Mushroom Addition Restaurant "
This tour option is for those who are not as physically fit.

Friday Spetember 26 & Satuarday September 27,2008
